-
A Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) is the minimum amount individuals must withdraw annually from certain retirement accounts, such as IRAs, once they reach a specific age as determined by IRS guidelines. Donating all or part of an RMD directly to a qualified nonprofit can be a tax-efficient way to support charitable causes while satisfying required withdrawal rules.
-
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account established at a sponsoring organization. Donors contribute assets to the fund, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to nonprofits over time. DAFs provide a flexible, strategic way to manage and grow charitable contributions.
-
Supporting a fundraiser means contributing to or participating in a specific campaign or event designed to raise funds for a cause. This can include making a financial donation, sponsoring an activity, sharing the campaign with others, or volunteering time to help ensure its success.
-
Partnering in fundraising events—such as golf tournaments, road races, or tennis/racquetball competitions—provides businesses and individuals with opportunities to sponsor, participate in, or help organize events that generate funds and awareness for a cause. Partnerships often include brand visibility, community engagement, and meaningful philanthropic impact.
-
Community outreach involves engaging with local individuals, organizations, and groups to build relationships, raise awareness, and provide support or services that meet community needs. Outreach initiatives may include educational programs, volunteer activities, public events, and collaborative partnerships that strengthen community connections.
-
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals age 70½ or older to transfer funds directly from an IRA to a qualified charity. QCDs can count toward satisfying RMD requirements and may reduce taxable income, offering a tax-advantaged way to support charitable organizations.
