Pickleball 2024
The fundraiser, ‘Play Pickleball to Build a House’ was a smashing success with abundant enthusiasm among the players. On Saturday, March 23, the Life House Atlanta team welcomed approximately 55 pickleball players to Kennesaw Recreation Center’s nine indoor pickleball courts. A beginner’s session was conducted for those who were playing pickleball for the first time. Then two sessions of ladder play commenced with a 30-minute break in between for a raffle drawing for fabulous prizes. Everyone enjoyed a savory feast provided by Chicken Salad Chick while waiting with anticipation to hear their ticket number called. Sponsors were very generous with their donations towards the raffle prizes which included eight pickleball paddles, balls, two pickleball backpacks, gift certificates, and beautiful ceramic art. A jar of Doux South Pickles was given to every player and volunteer to wrap up a great day dinking and banging on the pickleball courts.
The rewarding outcome of ‘Play Pickleball to Build a House’ was new pickleball enthusiasts who received encouragement from volunteer coaches and more advanced players.
With each player who signed up and each volunteer who gave their time, ‘Play Pickleball to Build a House’ helped bring Life House Atlanta closer to fulfilling its dream of building a pediatric respite home for children with life-limiting medical conditions and their families.
Life House Atlanta is inundated with requests to make our Pickleball fundraiser a recurring event. Stay tuned!
