Fred Gabourie
Fred joined the Life House Atlanta team in 2017 after a meeting with long-time friend and fellow hospice volunteer, Kathleen Fleiszar. She shared with him the idea of a respite and palliative care home based on her visit to Ryan House in Phoenix. He has been an ardent supporter ever since.
Fred spent his early years in California and had a strong family connection to Hollywood. Following a thirty-year career in insurance marketing and management in Los Angeles, Fred sold his business in 1987. He took on several consulting assignments in insurance related fields and moved to the Atlanta area. He retired fully after several years serving part time as an expert witness in insurance agency contract disputes.
Over the years since his retirement Fred served as a hospice volunteer with Wellstar Community Hospice for 13 years, and with Transitions Hospice for 6 years. He has volunteered on the Kennestone Hospital Regional Health Board, the Wellstar Community Hospice Advisory Board, the Wellstar Foundation Board of Trustees and the Cherokee County DUI Drug Court Foundation. Fred has also volunteered in assisted living facilities screening movies and providing historical information on each film until the Covid-19 pandemic put his volunteer work on hold.
With his years of experience and community leadership in supporting families in hospice environments, Fred brings extensive knowledge and compassion to his work at Life House Atlanta. “I have been involved with LHA since its humble inception where it began as a conversation between two friends. I am deeply committed to the vision and honored to play a role in continuing to help build the organization.”
